Ad Hijacking Detection is an add-on feature of Adthena's fleet of Brand Protection solutions that helps detect illegitimate advertisements and identify the affiliate and imposter networks that are fraudulently earning commissions and clicks from your brand.
Chart Data
Note: Ad Hijacking Detection must be configured first in order the chart to display data.
If an account is actively capturing Ad Hijacks, the chart data will display the number of hijackers and hijacking instances. Hovering over the chart line will display the exact number per date.
- Dotted line - Ad hijackers
- Bar graph - Ad hijacking instances
- Download button - Download the chart data image as a JPEG, PNG, or SVG vector image.
- Configurations - Edit the Ad Hijacking test. (See linked article)
If an account is not actively capturing Ad Hijacks the chart line will be flat:
Table Contents
When an account has successfully captured instances of Ad Hijacks, the table below the chart will populate with information regarding said Hijack. Use the search bar and drop down menu to filter/toggle between affiliate networks or affiliate unique identifiers. Use the export button on the far right to download the table contents as a CSV file.
- Ad click URL - the URLs where the visitor lands on the advertiser's website following the click of an ad
- Final URL - the URL address of the webpage in your website that people reach after they click your ad. Also known as the 'landing page' For each ad that you create, you specify a final URL to determine the landing page where people are taken when they click your ad.
- Redirects - the total number of redirects it took to get to the final URL. Clicking on the hyperlink will show the order and path in which affiliate networks.
- Affiliate network - this is a company that allows advertisers and publishers to create affiliate partnerships
- Affiliate unique identifier - this is a unique string that can be used to identify who the affiliate or publisher link belongs to
- Additional info - this includes all the additional information on utm parameters found in the final URL
- Ad evidence - clicking the hyperlink will open a new tab that shows the ad hijacking evidence on the Google SERP. On the top right of the screen, you can either copy the link or download the screenshot as a PNG file.
- Device type - desktop or mobile
- Date - date the ad hijack was identified
