This guide will help you visualise your data broken down by search term group so you can compare multiple segments in one view, like below:
Data Sources
If you want the table data shown above, you’ll need the Segmented Market Share API endpoint. If you’d like the trendline data, you will need the Segmented Market Trends API endpoint.
We used both - so if you’d like to do the same, you’ll need to connect two data sources.
Implementation
- Connect your data sources - input your Account ID, API Key, and select the relevant API endpoint:
At this stage, you can leave most of the options for further filtering flexible by ticking the checkbox, but we need to set up some default search term groups we’d want to see in our report - input all your relevant groups, each name separated by a comma. Then, click connect & repeat for the other dataset (Segmented Market Share), or move on to building out your report if you’ll only be using Trends.
- For both visualizations, we’re using Search Term Group as the dimension, and then adding relevant metrics - the only other thing we need to do is to apply a filter on the charts to look at one domain only, in this case, our own:
Now we can see all of our performance data broken down by search term group - if you’d like to see this for a competitor instead, you just need to change the domain filtering. Alternatively, you can skip applying this filter, and instead insert a drop-down filter for competitors, to give report viewers the option to filter the data.
