The model is constantly learning and adapting to provide estimates and insights with increasing accuracy; these learnings are applied retrospectively and so data from several months ago can be impacted. Rather than leave the old data untouched, we improve it based on our new learnings.
All historical data for the last 12 months is re-calculated monthly based on the most recent search volume data from Google.
Other reasons are that the search terms are continually being optimised and updated. We re-download the estimated search volume for each term frequently, so a new term with little impact on your account historically can become an important term if the number of people searching for it remains high.
We do not store historic CPC's. So at any given time, the Average CPC is current (updated daily) and unaffected by date ranges.
Every night Adthena's complex models re-estimate the CPC of every competitor on every Search Term we have seen them appear on, in every position we have seen them appear in. These values are then averaged and assigned to that competitor as the estimated CPC for that Search Term.
Since the estimated CPC for a specific competitor on a specific search term is re-calculated and overwritten nightly, both for yesterday and historically, it is currently not possible to look back at historic CPC estimates when filtering down to the level of competitor and search term.
However many of our users set up Scheduled Reports to report data for a set period i.e. monthly, so they have a record of this that will not change and can therefore be referred to later if required.
You can set up a daily, weekly or monthly Scheduled Report filtered by a specific group of search terms (and/or competitors).
