The Google Ads Manager Account (MCC) linking method is an industry-standard practice recognized by Google as the most efficient and secure way to connect Google Ads accounts. It is also best practice for securely linking your data to our platform. We understand the importance of maintaining control and security over your MCC, and we are equally focused on security as we transition to this method at Adthena.
To function properly, Adthena must be linked to customers’ MCC. This enables Adthena to ensure the most accurate data possible as well as implement certain functionality such as Brand Activator. Adthena creates this linkage with our MCC.
Google requires Adthena to have an Administrator of Adthena's MCC. By default, Google extends Adthena MCC permissions to linked Google Ads accounts which includes write access. More info here. Adthena does not require write access to your MCC account. Adthena requires MCC to MCC linkage. The default permission settings from Google automatically grant write access, which is beyond our control. However, we have a robust governance structure in place to ensure no accidental changes occur on our end.
Adthena’s MCC is governed by a dual-admin model, with write permissions strictly limited to two senior personnel: our Security Lead and VP of Customer Experience, each operating under the oversight of the CTO. Both have undergone background checks and operate under Adthena’s internal security and access control policies.
While Google’s default MCC linking grants write access, Adthena does not use this access to make changes to your campaigns. You retain full control over your account, and any activity can be reviewed at any time via the Campaigns > Change History section in your Google Ads account.
Additionally, Adthena’s MCC is used solely for linking accounts, with access credentials securely stored and logged via Vault, ensuring a high level of security and accountability. More info here.
Adthena will not have ownership of your account. This means we have no ability to “take over” or manage your account ownership settings. You retain full control over your account, and all permissions remain in your hands, including revoking Adthena’s access.
