Find the Google Ads Integration
To access the Google Ads Integration, click the Settings (⚙️) icon located in the bottom-left corner of your Adthena account. Under Integrations, click Marketing Platforms, then find the Google Ads card. A status pill on the card tells you where it currently stands:
- Connected – fully set up, data is flowing into Adthena
- Available – ready to connect
- Action needed – a connection exists but setup isn't finished
- Adthena MCC Migration Needed – access was lost, or the account is still on the older standalone connection and needs to move to MCC linking
Select the Google Ads card to open its dedicated setup and management page.
Note: Any user can initiate a new linking, but only an MCC Admin can complete the linking process.
Once you're on the Google Ads page, you'll see a summary of all linked accounts (All accounts, Assigned, Needs assignment, Awaiting admin, Errors) and a table listing each Google Ads account alongside its Linked to Adthena MCC status and which Adthena account it's Assigned to. Row statuses you may see include Active, Linking, Needs admin, Waiting on admin, Invite expired, Revoked, Failed, and Migration needed.
Link your account for the first time
To link your Google Ads account for the first time, you'll be walked through a 5-step wizard:
-
Review access – A summary screen explaining what you're about to connect. It shows what Adthena will request:
- Your identity – your Google email and profile name
- Read-only Google Ads access – Adthena reads performance data from your campaigns, keywords, and search terms; it cannot edit, pause, or delete anything in your account
- Revoke anytime – disconnect from this page or from your Google Account permissions screen
- Click Connect Google Ads to proceed. You'll be returned to this page after signing in to Google.
- Sign in to Google – Sign in via a Google popup window to authenticate.
- Select accounts – Choose which Google Ads account(s) or MCC to link.
- Delegation & Approve – Confirm access delegation for the selected account(s).
- Finish – Confirmation that linking is complete.
Add another account or migrate a legacy connection
To add a new Google Ads account that isn't yet linked at all, use the Connect more button in the top-right of the page. This runs through the same sign-in and account selection steps as first-time linking, without affecting any accounts already linked.
An Adthena MCC can only have one Google Ads manager account (MCC) linked to it. If migrating or linking at the manager-account level fails because that limit has already been reached, link the individual client account (CID) instead — a client account can have up to 5 Google Ads manager accounts linked to it.
If any of your Google Ads accounts are still on the legacy connection, the Google Ads integration page will show a summary bar at the top (All accounts, Assigned, Needs assignment, Awaiting admin, Errors), followed by a Migrate to Adthena MCC banner with a count of how many accounts need migrating.
Below the banner is a table listing each affected account, with a Migration needed pill and a Migrate button.
For the full migration process, including what to do before clicking Migrate and what changes depending on how far you take it, see Migrating a Legacy Standalone Google Ads connection to MCC.
