Google Shopping Ads, also known as Product Listing Ads (PLAs), are a feed-driven ad format that allows advertisers to showcase individual products directly on the search results page. Adthena’s Google Shopping page compiles these ads from the first page of the SERP.
Navigate to Google Shopping
To view the Google Shopping report, go to the left-hand navigation menu, click on the Adverts tab, and select Google Shopping from the dropdown list.
Filters
Users can refine and personalize your data view by using Filters and Saved Filters, allowing you to include or exclude data by:
- Device (Desktop or Mobile)
- Search term groups
- Individual search terms
- Competitor groups
- Specific competitors
- Terms coverage: Whole Market View vs My Terms (Click the + icon to expand this filter)
- Linked Google Ads campaigns (Click the + icon to expand this filter)
- Ad Text (Click the + icon to expand this filter)
Filtering by Ad Text
To filter by Ad Text:
- Click the + button and select Ad text.
- Enter your desired text in the box.
- Press Enter on your keyboard or click Add.
- Click Apply to activate the filter.
Note: The Ad Text filter uses AND logic, unlike most other filters in the application that use OR logic. This means that if you enter multiple ad text terms, all of them must appear in the ad for it to be included in the results.
Terms Coverage
Most Adthena reports let you filter data by Whole Market or My Terms:
- Whole Market: Includes all search terms where your brand has appeared, along with related terms where your competitors have appeared (paid or organic) in the past 30 days.
- My Terms: Shows only the search terms where your brand has appeared (paid or organic) in the past 30 days. Separate lists are provided for desktop and mobile.
Note: Only terms with a minimum monthly search volume are shown. This threshold varies by location.
Shopping Ads Table
You can customize your table by showing or hiding specific columns and rearranging their order. To do this, click the () button located on the right-hand side of the screen. Please note: These changes are user-specific, so your customized view won’t affect how the data appears for other users.
Each listing in the Shopping tab includes a variety of attributes, such as:
- Image
- Title
- Price
- Old price - View the original price before discounts
- Est. impressions - The number of est. impressions the ad has received
- Competitor - The brand selling the product
- Rating - Product ratings
- Tag - Identify products with specific tags such as 'SALE'
- Badge - Easily identify standout products with badges such as 'Free Shipping'
- Search Terms - The number of different search terms we've seen this ad appear on
- Display Period - The number of consecutive days we saw the ad appear and the corresponding dates
- Policy - See policy information like '30 day returns'
- Frequency - Based on the search terms that this ad has appeared for, the estimated percentage of searches in which this ad was shown during the specified time period
- Comparison Shopping Service (CSS) - Track products listed by different Comparison Shopping Service Providers
Under the Search Term (STs) column header, if you click on the number of search terms it will open search term preview. This helps you easily identify terms you might want to include in your product titles, as well as give you visibility on which terms trigger your shopping ads. The percentages represent the % of impressions an ad has received that are attributed to that specific term.
Vehicle Listing Ads
Automotive Advertisers can also benefit from our Shopping Ads offering as we also have Vehicle Listing Ads (VLAs) in selected countries where VLAs are available.
Export
To export the table data as a CSV file, simply click on the download icon located in the top right corner of the table (). This action will initiate the process of generating a CSV file containing the table data for convenient external use.
Duplicate PLAs
At first glance, you might see what seem to be duplicate PLA ads in the app. However, these typically differ slightly in image resolution, making each ad distinct. To verify this, export the data to a CSV file and examine the unique ‘Image’ and ‘AdID’ associated with each PLA.
