Which Google Shopping Ads (also known as Product Listing Ads or PLAs) are captured?
Adthena captures data from standard Product Shopping ads that appear on the SERP. These are the image-based product listings you can scroll horizontally through on desktop or mobile.
For each ad, Adthena collects the title, description, image, price, and advertiser. This data is available in the Google Shopping feature.
Are Showcase Shopping Ads captured?
Adthena does not currently capture Showcase Shopping Ads data.
Are Local Inventory Ads captured?
Yes but the data is rolled up into PLA data.
Are free listing shopping ads captured?
Adthena does not currently capture free listing shopping ads data.
Are Gallery Ads captured?
Yes, but the data is rolled up into text ads data.
Are Call Ads captured?
Adthena does not currently capture Call ads data.
Is Google Search App on mobile captured?
No. The Google Search App is a feature on Android phones that allows for searching directly from the home screen of a phone. Since it does not utilize the traditional Google SERP, it is not indexed by Adthena.
Are Universal App Campaign (UAC) ads captured?
Google’s Universal App Campaigns (now called App Campaigns) are not currently supported.
These campaigns promote mobile app installs or in-app actions, and while some ads may resemble text ads, particularly on the mobile SERP, they are not treated as standard text ads in Adthena. This is because UAC ads always link to app store domains, such as:
- play.google.com (Google Play)
- apps.apple.com (Apple App Store)
Since Adthena attributes ads based on the advertiser’s domain, app install ads that direct to external app stores (such as play.google.com or apple.com) are not included in competitive ad datasets for brand analysis.
However, App Install Ads may occasionally appear at the top of the mobile SERP and when detected, Adthena will attribute these ads to their respective app store domains. If you prefer to exclude them from your reports, you can add these domains to your Ignored Competitor list under Exclusions.
Are any Google Ad Extensions captured?
Not currently.
